Christmas Parade 2009

Another year, another great parade experience for Our Savior Lutheran Church!

We were number 59 in line this year (an upgrade from previous years!), right after the Pigeon Forge Tap Dancers and EVERYONE got to see this. Leading the parade were Pastor Volk and Chris Bretz waving and shouting to the people, Autumn and Christina Holland carrying the banner, and Jeff Lawhead carrying the cross. Behind them was Hank Bretz driving the truck and float and many of our smaller members riding alongside the float.

Of course, no parade float gets put together without aggravation and serious hard work, so we'd like to thank the ladies and gentlemen who stayed behind to serve guests snacks and drinks as well as Miss Lisa, who run every collective part of her body off to get things running smoothly, and everyone else who pitched in to make another successful parade entry for Our Savior Lutheran Church!

We look forward to doing it again next year!

Our Savior Lutheran Church Works with Gatlinburg Community in Blessings Blow Out

Thanks to the many people who brought Back to School and Hygiene Items for the Friends in Need Back To School Blessings Blow Out! There were over 70 children in Gatlinburg, Tennessee who received both kits to begin their school year. It was a great success. Special thanks to those who worked the night of the back packing on August 6th and to those who worked the event August 8th. We had the joy in sharing this event with not only the children and families of Gatlinburg, but also with First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, and others who served in many capacities to make the event a success.

BLESSINGS were truly bringing the Kingdom of Christ nearer to Gatlinburg Tennessee August 8th. Thanks to all who participated!

Receive, Rejoice and Respond! Ginny's Fund Raising Dinner

On April 5th our congregation had the pleasure of supporting a long time member with a fund raising dinner following our Palm Sunday Worship. Over $1800 was received through the donations and response of many friends and family along with matching funds from Thrivent for $1000.00 It is a joy and priviledge to help someone in a time of need. Ginny hopes to be back to work soon with a positive follow up from the doctors this week. Amen and thanks to the many people from our membership, friends, Arts and Crafts Community, and more who made this event so much fun! Pictured here is Boogertown Gap, friends of Ginny's and the communities who gave their gift of music along with silent auction items to help make the dinner a success. Other donations from Paul Murray Studio, G Webb Gallery, and so many more made the auction fun and a complete success! Thanks to so many who gave gifts of love in the name of Jesus Christ!

December 5th Festival of Lights Parade

It's time for the parade again and we are excited to participate. Our entry is "The Light Has Come!" We bring our message of the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, to the streets on December 5th as Gatlinburg celebrates the Festival of Lights parade. What a joy it is to share the Light of the World as we remind folks what Jesus told us in John 8:12 that HE is the Light of the World, those who follow will not walk in darkness but have the Light of the World!

FIN Kid's Cafe Program brings Big Blessings to members of OSLC

It is hard to guess who is receiving the biggest blessings at the new Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. With it's new afterschool program where children are invited to come at no cost to play games, have homework help, a large hot meal, and hearty worship, the blessings are great! Each Thursday at 3:30 the church comes alive with volunteers and kids who come to grow in fellowship with each other. We have a full intergenerational program where children are greeted by loving adults, ready to spend specific time with each child. Games such as Battleship, Connect Four and Scrabble are played, Home work help is offered , but even more the one on one fellowship is where the ministry really begins. In this photo we see Jim Faig - president of Friends in Need shaking hands with Matt Kulp, Our Savior Lutheran Church President. It is a joy to see folks working together in minstry!
